The LIFELINE™ Tactical Self-Extrication tool is a one-of-a-kind device designed by firefighters to protect firefighters. The concept of the LIFELINE ™ Tool was originally created by Fire and Safety Innovations owners, James Counsellor. Jay has been a firefighter for the past twenty-two years and is the ex-assistant fire chief of the municipality of Hawthorne in New Jersey. Jay has received several commendations, including the Hawthorne Fire Department Life Saving Award.
Jay saw a growing problem in the field with rising numbers of documented instances of firefighters becoming trapped or entangled in wires or cables, for example, when ceilings collapse. Their journey began in 2015 and ultimately brought them to PPM. John Phillips, President of Operations, Implants and Instrumentation division said; “After meeting Jay and hearing his story, there was no question in my mind that we would help FSI realize this lifesaving product. I committed to using all our talent, resources, and experience to co-develop a self-extraction tool unlike anything in the marketplace today.”
Two years later, with a great deal of R&D and testing by both our teams, the product has exceeded our collective expectations. Today, the LIFELINE™ Tactical Self-Extrication tool has three distinct product lines;
- The LifeLine Rescue, designed to support firefighters
- The LifeLine Jawz, designed to support both professional and recreational scuba divers
- The LifeLine Stealth, designed for military and law enforcement professionals.
This patented-pending device is manufactured with medical grade steel and a powerful proprietary 3/16” serrated blade. This thick marvel of engineering can cut through the most unimaginable and challenging variety of materials.
The LIFELINE Tactical Self-Extraction tool is active in the field today saving the lives of firefighters. Most recently, the product is being tested by dive instructors for NYPD ESU dive team as well as the Israeli special forces.
PPM is proud to be a part of the LIFELINE Tactical Self-Extraction team and doing our part to support first responders and military personnel around the world. Improving the health and well-being of all people through manufacturing has been our mission for nearly 50 years.
